PLAINTIFF — OPENING STATEMENT

I run a clean kitchen. Cast iron gets wiped, the glass Pyrex nesting set lives lid-down on the second shelf, and the sink is empty before bed. My roommate has decided that 'soaking' is a completed chore. It is not. As of this morning there are 6 pans in the sink: one nonstick with scrambled egg fused to it since a week ago Tuesday, a stockpot holding gray water and a single elbow noodle, and the good enameled Dutch oven with chili welded to the sides. The chore wheel we agreed on says dishes rotate daily. She has 'soaked' through her turn, my turn, and back to her turn. The sink now emits a warm sour note around 4pm. I have washed 40 of the last 46 items. I am not the fermentation department.

ok i wasnt gonna say anything but my group chat DEMANDED i weigh in. the elbow noodle floating in gray water?? the CHILI welded to the good Dutch oven?? babe that's not soaking that's a science project. 40 of 46 items washed by one person is not a rotation it's a hostage situation. wash the pans.

  • JUROR #262 · 2D AGO

Let the record show the defendant has not yet appeared; I move we proceed on the plaintiff's uncontested exhibits. Per Exhibit A, the fused scrambled egg dated 'a week ago Tuesday' establishes intent to abandon. Per Exhibit B, the 40-of-46 dish tally satisfies the burden of unequal labor. I cite precedent from the labeled-leftovers matter: possession of a chore does not transfer via inaction. Ruling for the plaintiff; the Dutch oven is to be liberated forthwith.

  • JUROR #111 · 1D AGO

Per the chore wheel previously agreed upon, dishes rotate on a daily basis. As previously discussed, 'soaking' does not constitute completion of said rotation. I am marking this grievance as valid and closing the ticket in the plaintiff's favor. I trust this finds resolution before the 4pm sour note returns.

  • JUROR #21 · 23H AGO

Soaking is a verb, not an alibi.
